It is the year of the Tiger but the Lions were the big attraction
The weather was perfect for the Lion's to frollic in on Saturday, when Chinese New Year was celebrated in Gosford City. People gathered at the front of GTC Shopping Centre to follow the Lions through the Imperial Centre, along Mann and William Street. Once at Kibble Park the children were waiting to cheer them on, and followed the Lions to the stage where there were martial arts and Chinese cultural demonstrations.

Gosford City Growers Market a Huge Success
The inaugural Gosford City Growers Markets finally arrived in Gosford on Saturday 13th February to the delight of local shoppers. There were eggs, fruit and vegetables, meat, honey, wine, spices and herbs, banana bread and all types of freshly baked bread, plants, seedlings, compost and crocodile and emu sausage sandwiches. The day started out overcast and gloomy but that didn’t stop the local community from coming out to support the markets and enjoy live music and a cooking demonstration by Masterchef’s Julie Goodwin and the Cowrie Group’s Head Chef Paul Bouwhuis. They created tasteful recipes using fresh produce chosen from the grower’s who were at the market.

Gosford Business Improvement District InitiativeA group of Gosford City Centre business operators and property owners, in collaboration with Gosford City Council, is setting up a Business Improvement District (BID) based on successful models in North America, Europe and New Zealand. The purpose of the Gosford BID is to improve conditions for business, attract more people to the City Centre, and improve the quality of life for those who work, shop and live in the City Centre. This BID enables business and property owners to decide which services - over and above those already provided by Council - are needed to meet Gosford's needs and to devise ways to deliver them. This is a key part of a range of initiatives by Gosford Council to revitalise the City Centre, in recognition that there is no one single action that will achieve this. It will be funded by the CBD Special Improvement levy that has been in place for many years and originally helped build the Baker Street Car Park, and upgrade both the Mann Street and Kibble Park. |
